There are so many reasons to celebrate the women in your life – least of which is the fact that without a Mother you wouldn’t even be here! Every year on March 8th, women around the world are honoured with the recognition they so deserve and this year may be the most important year to show your support and appreciation.
On January 21, 2017, millions of women, men and children all over the world marched to demand equality for their sisters, daughters, mothers and friends. They (we) took a stand against the the oppression that has dogged us for centuries. You’d think, by now – after decades of the Women’s Movement- that this would be a redundant cause. Now, more than ever, the equal rights of women are relevant, current and necessary. A certain presidential figure and his party have brought this issue of human rights to the center of attention and it will not be ignored.
So, without getting too political (!!!) I’d like to show my support for women around the world and their contributions to our society. Mothers, scientists, doctors, educators, farmers, lawyers, presidential candidates, designers, engineers, artists; we wouldn’t be here without you!
The traditional flower that celebrates Women’s Day is Mimosa. Known for it’s bright yellow, fuzzy blossoms it is a harbinger of spring in Europe and around the globe. It is a symbol of respect and solidarity and is given to and by women to honour the day.
Gift the women in your life with a lovely bouquet of Mimosa to brighten their day!
Happy International Women’s Day!
